Egirdir in Winter

Many of our guests at the Peace Pension are under the impression that snow and ice in Turkey is almost unheard of, so are usually surprised to hear that as the leaves fall from the trees and nestle upon the lake, temperatures drop and Egirdir becomes quite cold during the winter season.

Snowcapped view of Egirdir

However, rather than pull up the covers and turn out the lights for hibernation Egirdir becomes a chocolate-box pretty village surrounded by snow-capped mountains and can boast of a number of winter sports and entertainments.

Mt Davraz Ski Resort

Mount Davraz, one of Turkey's newest Ski Resorts, is located just 17km from Egirdir.

The Mountain, bare in appearance with little vegetation, stands at an altitude of 2,637m so is ideal for various snow-sports, including snow touring, downhill skiing and snow boarding with ski runs up to 4km in length.

Facilities on the mountain include a 1.2km Chairlift with a 1,000 person / per hour capacity. The lower station is situated at an altitude of 1,674m and ascends to 1,961m.

Ice Sledding on Lake Egirdir

As the resort is still new, even during national holidays and weekends the lift and slopes are not very crowded so there is room for everyone to enjoy the deep snow, sunny weather and friendly atmosphere.

A Dolmus service transporting patrons between the center of town and the ski resort operates on weekends during the Ski Season (December - March).

If you require, we as your hosts, are happy to organise a day excursion out to the Mountain for you. We will arrange your transportation, pick-up and drop-off at the pension thereby enabling you greater flexibility and independence.
